Program Year 2021 Data Publication & Annual Data Refresh
In June 2022 the Open Payments Program Year 2021 data was published. Program Year 2021 was the inaugural year of the Open Payments program expansion which added five additional provider types as covered recipients in the program, updated the Nature of Payment categories and added reporting requirements for the 'device identifier' component of the unique device identifier for medical devices. In addition to these updates, CMS is now permitted to publish covered recipients' National Provider Identifiers (NPIs).
