The rivers are rising, the ground is completely saturated, and we may be one more storm away from serious flooding.
In this video, I walk the riverbanks, check bridge crossings, and explain why saturated ground changes everything when it comes to floods. What looks manageable today can turn into a disaster overnight once the soil can't absorb any more water.
I also prepare for a second, more immediate problem: a large leaning cedar tree damaged by the storm, threatening cars and possibly power lines at a rental property two hours away. I go through the gear, saws, safety equipment, and decision-making process required to deal with dangerous tree work responsibly.
This is not panic—this is preparedness, observation, and experience from years of living with floods, storms, and rural infrastructure.
