And yet, we are watching the CEO of the Canada Infrastructure Bank, a taxpayer-funded Crown corporation, decline to state his compensation when asked directly in committee.
Public filings place his compensation between roughly $553,000 and $651,000 annually, with performance incentives that push total compensation into the seven figures.
This is a government-appointed leadership role.
Funded by taxpayers.
During a cost-of-living crisis.
Meanwhile, the size of the federal government has expanded significantly.
In 2015, the total number of federal public servants (core public service plus agencies) was approximately 257,034.
By 2024, that number had grown to roughly 367,772; an increase of more than 110,000 positions, or 43%.
