The book was called 2025: Scenarios of Global and U.S. Society Reshaped by Science and Technology. And, somehow the authors managed to get all of this right: 

Fast-mutating viral pandemics? Check.

Global vaccination programs run through international bodies like the WHO? Check.
Genetic and biotech "solutions" fast-tracked during emergencies? Check.
Smart IDs, smart homes, smart grids? Everywhere.
AI replacing human labor at scale? Already happening.

Now layer in what they didn't fully spell out back then, but clearly anticipated.

Agenda 2030 says you won't own anything, not even your biological data, and you're told to smile about it. Then there's 6G… Smart dust…. Always-on connectivity… Real-time biometric monitoring. The internet doesn't just surround you; it penetrates you. Your phone becomes wearable, then implantable. Banking moves from apps to bodies. Wallets become veins. Your heartbeat verifies your transactions. Your nervous system becomes a node on the network.

This is where the dystopia stops pretending. 

This is where the Great Divide (bifurcation) comes in. 

Bifurcation means a splitting into two separate paths from a single point. In plain English: one reality, one system, one moment in time reaches a pressure point and then divides. After that point, the same inputs no longer lead to the same outcomes.

Some… MANY… people will accept the mirror/mimic projection and comply with centralized authority, surveillance, and managed reality. 

Others will refuse the script as they move to decentralization and disruption. 

The Great Divide will happen when a system can no longer hold everyone in the same storyline. Instead of collapse, it splits. Same world, different interpretations, different futures.

You were warned in 1997. 

Once tech moves into the body… implants, neural interfaces, biometric authentication… there is no separation between you and the network. No off switch. No privacy boundary. You're not using the system. You're embedded in it.
