Arrest warrants and death threats from the Turkish regime. Cut from the NBA at 29 after speaking out against China, Iran, and every other system that crushes dissent. Roughly $50 million in career earnings left on the table. He changed his name to Freedom when he became an American citizen because the word meant something to him that it no longer means to a lot of people who grew up taking it for granted.

Now the same man is walking into the WNBA's living room and flipping the table.

In a recent appearance on Fox  News (scroll down for clip) with Lara Trump, Freedom laid it out without the usual hedging. Freedom is not free. It requires sacrifice. He sits kids down at his basketball camps and tells them how fragile this country is and how many of them are being brainwashed by TikTok. When teammates used to complain about America, he offered to buy them first-class tickets to China, Russia, Iran, Turkey, or North Korea so they could experience the alternative. The same principle applies to women's sports. Biological men do not belong in them. Period.

He called Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham exactly what she is: an American hero. Cunningham said the quiet part out loud — that she wants to protect young girls from competing against and sharing locker rooms with biological males. Polls show roughly 70 percent of Americans agree. Common sense is not left or right. It is just common sense. The backlash she received for stating biological reality is the same pressure that keeps most WNBA players silent.

Freedom is done with the silence.

Earlier this month he made it official. He declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft. Not because he suddenly discovered a new identity. Because the league's own rules and the public statements of many of its players and coaches treat self-identification as the only requirement that matters. If simply declaring who you are is enough, then a 6-foot-10 former NBA center who has gone through male puberty meets every stated criterion. He and his team reviewed the collective bargaining agreement. "Only players who are women are eligible." The document never defines the word. So Freedom is forcing the definition.

He is not alone. Former NBA player Royce White and several other pro and overseas players have signaled they are prepared to do the same if the league refuses to clarify. Freedom has publicly noted the financial incentive: G-League money versus top WNBA salaries. Rules are rules, he keeps repeating. If biology is irrelevant, then the separate leagues themselves become indefensible.
