In this episode of Endless Venture, I team up with my good friend Justin Rasmussen from Razco Gear. Justin's not only an expert in firearms and backcountry carry systems—he's also spent years in bear country and knows what it takes to stay safe when things get real.
Together, we put both bear spray and pistols to the test in real-world simulations:
We test multiple brands of bear spray for range, coverage, and deployment speed.
We go head-to-head with a drone flying at 33 mph—the same speed as a charging grizzly—to test our reaction time with both spray and pistol.
We shoot at a moving target bouncing down a hill at us, simulating the chaos of an actual bear charge.
We break down the pros and cons of both tools—talking through the science, the practicality, and the responsibility that comes with carrying either one.
This isn't about pushing one method over the other. It's about helping you make an informed decision when you head into bear country.
So… what are you going to carry? Bear spray? A sidearm? Both?
Let me know in the comments. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
