SOMETHING DEEPLY WRONG IS GOING ON IN AMERICA: FREE LANCE KILLINGS

When the news broke on the Ukrainian girl getting her throat slashed by a 14-time- arrested, out on "no cash" bail savage monster, I broke out in tears.  Iryna Zruska, 23, fled a bomb shelter in Ukraine as a refugee, to live in America. She graduated in art from college. She worked at a pizza joint. She got on the public train to ride home.  She sat in the seat in front of a "human animal" who took out his knife and slashed her throat. Then, he calmly walked down the train cab aisle and out the door. No one stopped him.  No one blinked. She died in a pool of her own blood.  I am heartbroken. 

Today, I walked up to Buchanan Recreation Center in Evergreen, Colorado to work out. It's only five miles from my house.  I have worked out there with Evergreen High School kids for the past 18 years.  I've coached them in weight lifting and in swimming. They are all good kids.  They even say, "Thank you."

Today, Sandi and I walked up to the door, but it was locked.  Our P.T. friend, Christina opened up the door for us. She said, "We're closed because three kids got shot at the high school, and are in critical condition. The shooter either shot himself or he was shot by police.  We don't know his condition.

I just lost it. Broken hearted! That's me. That's my wife Sandi. She's a former R.N.  We looked at each other. We thanked Christina for her telling us, and then, walked out to our car…in anguish.  

From there, we shopped at the Natural Grocers to pick up some eggs, veggies and bananas. Everyone looked at us with sad eyes. They all knew about the shooting. Total sadness in the store.  We found our favorite stock lady, Kathryn, crying as she stocked the potato chips.  We hugged her.  She had experienced such violence earlier in her life.

At the checkout stand, Chuck said, "Be careful out there."  

I replied, "Hell, I'm careful, but how do you outrun bullets or a guy knifing you in the back?"

When we got home, and the first thing we heard on the radio was that Charlie Kirk, a conservative news speaker, a man I listen to on podcasts, along with Victor Davis Hanson, well, Kirk, who is level-headed, smart and a father of two kids, was shot in the neck, and died on the spot at age 31. 

It stunned me. It racked my brain and my emotions. I'm sitting here at this key board wondering what in the hell is going on in America?!  Something is DEEPLY WRONG within our country.  We all possess the right to free speech.

I called my friend over in Europe.  He heard the news.  We were both highly upset.  He relayed that a week ago, eight Somalian immigrants beat a Norwegian boy nearly to death because he tried to rescue a Norwegian girl from getting raped by them. Those immigrants have formed rape-gangs all over Europe. If you think it's nuts here, it's really nuts in Europe. No European women can walk the streets in Stockholm or Paris or London—by themselves or even with a female friend.  The rapes and violence accelerate off the charts. 

But like that Ukrainian girl getting killed on August 22, 2025, the mainstream media did not and would not report on it because he was Black and she was White. The killing didn't fit the liberal media's narrative.  If the killer was White and the girl was Black—all hell would have broken out on mainstream media.

Notice when Daniel Penny on a New York subway subdued another crazy person from killing people, Penny was brought to trial.  

And then, that CNN moron talking-head Brian Stelter turned the Ukrainian girl into a symbol of racism.  The killing wasn't that savage Brown's fault.  That's why half the country doesn't believe ABC, NBC, CBS,  NPR and CNN.

Countless readers have read my columns over the past 25 years. Mostly, I receive compliments and "thanks" for my work. At times, I receive really nasty letters from some out there who disagree with me. I write back, "If you're so upset with my columns, don't read them… read only the journalists who agree with you."  To that, he has called me every name in the book. He's a political nightmare ready to explode.  

I gotta' tell you, I am sick to my heart and stomach over Charlie Kirk's assassination.  I am sick to my stomach for that Ukraine girl just starting out in life…with SO much to give America.  The reason she died stems from liberal judges releasing those savages and maniacs back out onto the streets.  Same with Sanctuary City governors and mayors.  How many Americans have to die or be raped, or run over, or robbed, or drugged to death? 

And now, this national nightmare, just hit within five miles of my home in Evergreen, Colorado. Tonight, the parents of those three in critical condition are praying for their kids to survive.  The wife of Charlie Kirk and their kids are crying themselves to sleep. They will wake up to return to their nightmare about losing their father—-for the rest of their lives.  I know because I lost my father at an early age.  I've cried so many times that I'm out of tears.

So,  what are we going to do in America to stop the killings in schools like Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Columbine, and Evergreen, in DC at the Holocaust Memorial, in churches where kids and adults are praying?  How do you stop 57 people from shooting 57 people and eight dead in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend? How do you stop the killing when it continues every night of the year? 

What in hell is going wrong with our society?

To tell you the truth, as a former teacher, a parent, as a reasonable man—-I'm not sure there are any solutions.

But if I could, I might introduce these ideas:

Stop all violent video games.  Stop all video games arcades where kids get to kill for the thrill. Those video games teach a child's mind toward violence. 

Work toward marriages where the two partners are matched and stay together for their kids' sake. We need dads to guide their sons toward positive outcomes.

Stop all violent cops and robbers, and SUV, NCIS, Criminal Minds, and all other TV shows where guns become the only solution. Those shows only give kids the idea that guns and violence are the only solution.

Increase "anger management" classes in schools. Increase "free speech" resolution classes.

Teach all kids the "social media" signs of violence from a child.  Most of these killers speak about their violence before they kill.  Report such deadly online threats. Never make fun of any kid in school.  He may come back to shoot you.

More positive TV shows like, "Father Knows Best…Leave it to Beaver…Andy Griffith Show…Hallmark Cards TV movies…Jeopardy…Kermit the Frog, and invent more positive characters on more positive shows.

Absolute strictest research on anyone who wants to buy a repeating rifle…if not an outright ban on AR-15 style rifles with 20 clips or more.  Virtually no regular citizens needs a repeating rifle like that except to kill lots of people.

This is a truly sad moment in America: in those killing zones. God bless Charlie Kirk's family, Iryna's family, families of mass shootings, and all the families in Chicago who keep losing their children in those killing zones.
