When there's a better way to do something, it's a fine idea to do it that way. A chainsaw beats chopping down a tree by hand, with an ax. It is faster and it takes less work. That is better.
It is not better – is it? – to replace a simple knob to change radio stations or increase/decrease the volume with a smartphone-emulating tap/swipe interface. The latter offers no feedback and requires you to look at the screen and try to hold your finger steady (while driving) to accurately tap the screen. The former is a control that can be operated without looking at it because it can be felt. It can be operated accurately, too – even while the vehicle is moving because there is a direct connection between the control and the person controlling it.
