The House is two votes away from passing a spending bill that could shield Bayer from tens of thousands of RoundUp cancer lawsuits by blocking new pesticide label warnings.
Section 453 of the Fiscal Year 2026 Appropriations Bill would would prevent lawsuits against Bayer Monsanto and other pesticide manufacturers for claims associated with glyphosate and other chemicals. Section 453 would also prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from issuing new guidance or changing pesticide labels that differ from existing assessments. This means that if the EPA does not classify glyphosate as a carcinogen, states cannot impose additional warnings because states cannot require a pesticide label that is different from the EPA's label.
Kelly Ryerson recommended calling your US House Representative and telling them that you are against any language that would provide legal immunity for chemical companies and to pull Sections 453, 457, and 507 from the Fiscal Year 2026 Appropriations Bill. This legislation, as it stands now, would protect 57,000 different chemicals.
She also recommended going to StopPoison.org for additional action because the chemical companies are also trying to get immunity laws passed in the states. Her third recommendation was to go to StandForHealthFreedom.com to easily send an email to yout elected representatives.
This new chemical immunity bill pretends to support farmers while legally granting immunity from lawsuits against harm to the producers of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. There have been billions of dollars in settlements from glyphosate, and there are currently 165,000 active cancer lawsuits against the producer. If this immunity bill passes, all of these lawsuits will be dropped!
Section 453 of the bill grants legal immunity to domestic and foreign chemical producers. Future failure-to-warn pesticide lawsuits would be dismissed.
