Today we begin building what I'm calling the mother of all solar panel mounts.
The backbone of the system is an 11-foot section of 6-inch schedule-40 steel pipe that will be set in concrete and used as the main support for the solar array. From there we're fabricating a heavy-duty adjustable mounting system using aluminum track, oversized galvanized saddle bolts, and custom-cut radiuses so everything fits the pole properly.
The goal is to build something that is:
• Extremely strong
• Fully adjustable for solar angle
• Clean and professional looking
• Built to last for decades
In this first episode we machine the mounting channel to match the radius of the pipe, drill the saddle bolt holes using the magnetic drill, and create the foundation that will allow the entire solar mount to rotate and be adjusted for the best sun exposure.
This is the start of a new solar build series. In the upcoming videos we'll set the pole in concrete, finish the adjustable mounting system, and install the panels that will power the shop.
May God bless you and your families. Please keep us in your prayers.
