After hearing about "toxic masculinity," for most of their young lives, and watching natural/normal male behavior get picked apart, and being told that men needed to become softer, gentler, and less manly, a lot of Gen Z guys are moving hard in the opposite direction.
They want to look masculine again.
And we're not talking "pretty boy" masculine.
This new movement is all about broad shoulders, lean muscle, sharp cheekbones, strong chins, square jaws, and faces that look like they should be carved into the side of an ancient Roman building.
It's way less boy-band heartthrob and more Michelangelo's David after six months at the gym.
This is young men embracing male energy again, and frankly, the entire country should be thrilled to see it.
The internet has given this new male obsession a name⦠it's called Looksmaxxing.
Looksmaxxing means taking whatever nature handed you and doing everything reasonably possible to improve it.
It's about getting in shape, losing the gut, building muscle, fixing the haircut, taking care of your skin, dressing better, and standing up tall and straight.
But again, this isn't a metrosexual movement; it's definitely grounded in the hard male sphere.
And truly, there are way worse things happening in America than young men deciding they'd like to look strong, healthy, confident, and unmistakably manish.
And speaking of "maxxing," there's more to the story. On the more traditional end of the spectrum is working out, and that's called softmaxxing.
Then there's leanmaxxing, where guys focus heavily on cutting body fat so their muscles and facial structure become way more pronounced. A leaner face can make cheekbones and jawlines pop, which is a huge part of the aesthetic these guys are chasing.
And that leads to the final category, which is called hardmaxxing. This is where our handsome Roman statue starts getting a little nuts.
Hardmaxxing is the serious alteration stuff.
Guys aren't satisfied with changing the body they have anymore. They're trying to change the actual structure of it.
