The General Authority of Civil Aviation said one person was killed and eight others injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport on Wednesday evening. The injured sustained wounds ranging from minor to severe and were taken to hospital for treatment. The incident also caused material damage, which authorities were assessing.
Earlier, Saudi air defences intercepted a drone approaching the Shaybah oil field, operated by Saudi Aramco in the Eastern Province. Debris from the interception sparked a fire in a contractor's vehicle outside the facility's perimeter, killing two expatriate workers, one Filipino and one Nepalese, and injuring two others, a Pakistani and an Indian national.
Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry said oil production and operations at the field were unaffected and that emergency teams had responded to the incident.
