I'm exploring different generator options for my hydro electric system, and I need a generator that can produce high voltage. That will allow me to feed it into a grid tie inverter, and also transmit it over distance with minimal loss. So I tear apart this alternator and rewind that stator to convert it to a high voltage generator. In the process I learn a lot about windings and how they work, and I also go through 3 phase power and different ways to wire it. I finish the stator winding in this video, but there's still more to do on this. I want to convert the rotor from an electromagnet to a permanent magnet rotor, so I'll be tackling that in the future.
