Fishback spoke with customers at the gas pumps Saturday morning about the issues behind recent fuel price hikes, and also offered to pump their gas.

Footage from the event showed a long line of cars waiting to fill their tanks with low-cost gasoline.

A flyer for the event stated, "This Saturday, September 26, investor James Fishback will offer gasoline for $2.98 per gallon, the price Florida drivers paid before the Iran war began in February 2026."

"First come, first served," the flyer noted, adding there would be "2,000 gallons available," while restricting large trucks.

"The root cause of high gas prices is pretty clear: Before the Iran war, gas was $2.98/GALLON. Now, it's $4.48/GALLON," wrote Fishback on X.

Fishback said the rollback would save gas buyers "up to $22 when they fill up".

The stunt illustrates how consumers are desperate for relief at the gas pump, as Americans are squeezed by mounting financial pressures.

Fishback finished third in the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary back in August.
