This silent health crisis could lead to a catastrophe; a serious world-wide underpopulation problem if allowed to cross the Rubicon unsuccessfully opposed.
This new alarming research comes from the Health and Environmental Alliance (HEAL). HEAL tells us that environmental pollution is a major health threat to us all. It threatens the functional integrity of our bodies, resulting in, for example, a breakdown in our hormonal system, and may cause epigenetic damage.
Parental exposure has been linked to ill-health in their children: Pregnant women, children and the elderly are the most vulnerable.
More specifically, the research outlines the fact that environmental pollution is a major driving factor effecting men's health. Effects include, but are not limited to, declining sperm count, caused by, for examples, exposure to noxious chemicals such as pesticides, PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances), and Bisphenol A (BPA) found in microplastics. Sperm counts have plummeted by over 50% in comparison to the 1970's.
Further, there are reports of rising testicular or prostate cancers. In the last 10 years testicular cancer has risen by some 25%. There are growing concerns that young men are affected in particular. Prostate cancer is now rated third in the list of cancers affecting men.
Economic costs
The economic impact of this environmental chemical-assault is truly devastating. Consider the medical costs: For instance, 1 in 12 couples are affected by male infertility, costing a staggering 3-4.5 billion euros in Europe alone.
-As more evidence points to environmental pollution degrading our planet, causing serious health problems, a lack of public awareness and public policy continues.
Clarion call to action
Clearly, the evidence is no longer speculative. Indeed, urgent action is needed. It's a "do or die" situation. Policies need to be swiftly put in place based on sound, scientific evidence, driven by political will. In other words the HEAL report serves as an ultimatum. It serves as an inditement of those who are responsible for the pollution.
The EU's REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction) set up to protect human health and minimize environmental chemical pollution is openly pushing for reforms. Individuals or groups need to be banned or greatly restricted on their use of the related chemical culprits such as phthalates. Strict regulations need to be put in place when it comes to microplastics or polymers…
