Hillary Clinton was called out after she called Pete Hegseth's plan to livestream the Fort Hood killer's execution 'barbaric' after video resurfaced of her celebrating the death of Muammar Gaddafi.
President Donald Trump had endorsed Hasan's execution by firing squad during a Wednesday political event in Texas, suggesting 'he deserves it' but was noncommittal about Hegseth's plan to livestream it.
Clinton, who notoriously lost to Trump in the 2016 election and has remained a staunch critic, spoke out against the plan on social media.
'A barbaric idea, beneath our dignity as a country. Push back on this,' she wrote.
The former secretary of state usually shuts off replies to her posts, but several criticized her for reacting in delight to the death of Gaddafi in 2011.
'We came, we saw, he died,' she joked and laughed to reporters when informed of his killing.
While Gaddafi's death was not televised, the media shared graphic photos and video of him being captured and his dead body across television and the internet.
'But I thought you really enjoy watching public executions,' wrote one critic.
'You cheered when Gaddafi was publicly sodomized to death,' added Jack Posobiec.
'Hillary does her executions in private, like a lady,' joked another.
Trump was noncommittal when asked Friday whether he wanted the execution livestreamed. 'Well, they´re making a determination about that,' Trump told reporters before traveling to a political event in Syracuse, New York.
But he again endorsed the firing squad as the method.
'He will be killed. He will be, through firing squad,' Trump told reporters. 'I really don´t care how he goes, as long as he goes. And I think the death penalty is a very worthy way of going for him.'
Trump did not answer when asked if he would watch a livestreamed execution.
Vice President JD Vance said Friday that he will not watch the execution if it is livestreamed as the Trump administration is planning.
'I mean, look, if it's all through livestream, I'm not going to be watching it,' Vance told reporters as he traveled to Lima, Ohio, for a campaign rally.
