By configuring the Cummins X-15 engine as an auxiliary emission control device, we've found a legal path to bring our hybrid technology to the road without changing the engine's core ECM parameters.
In this update, we discuss the transition from the Scania DC9 to the Cummins X-15. While the X-15 adds weight, it provides the 600-horsepower output necessary for 200-ton gross loads and extreme heavy-haul applications. We also break down how this change allows us to downsize our battery packs and reintroduce engine braking as a critical safety feature for downhill descents.
We are officially cleared to legally sell hybrid semi-trucks in Canada. A huge thank you to our community for your letters and emails that helped make this happen.
